eIF3 binds to specific 5′ UTRs with nanomolar affinity. Purified eIF3 (15–1000 nM) was incubated with individual 32P-labeled 5′ UTRs from YEL070W (A), YOR052C (B), YKL054C (C), and YBR014C (D). Experimental data points (black dots) were fit (red lines) to determine dissociation constants (Kd). Error reflects standard error of the fit of nonlinear regression using Hill's equation.
