This month, the RNA journal is pleased to present the second in a series of special issues. The first was published in January of last year (January 2022; 28: 1–113). Edited by Tom Cech, this issue focused on the topic of RNA protein condensates in biological systems.

The current issue provides a wide-ranging collection of perspectives on a field of intense current interest, RNA therapeutics. Edited by Michelle Hastings and Adrian Krainer, the contributions provide a view of the remarkable versatility of RNA in its diverse roles as a target and therapeutic.

Michelle, an expert in antisense oligonucleotide therapeutics and their applications in rare disease, has been appointed a Professor of Pharmacology and Director of the M-RNA Therapeutics Initiative within the University of Michigan Center for RNA Biomedicine starting in the spring of 2023; Adrian, a Professor at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, has received many awards including the 2019 Breakthrough …
