
Analysis of 16S rRNA from WT and endoribonuclease-deficient cells. (A) Northern blot analysis of total cellular RNA extracted from cells first grown in M9/glucose at 31°C to early exponential phase and then for 4 h at 42°C. (B) Cells were grown at 31°C to early exponential phase (0 time) and then starved for 4 h (−glucose) or grown for 4 h (+glucose) at 42°C. Oligonucleotide probes specific to different 16S rRNA regions were used as indicated in each panel. The diagram at the top (not to scale) shows the location of the probes. (C) Total RNA was extracted from cells grown at 31°C to early exponential phase and then starved for 4 h (−glucose) at 42°C.
