Model of PAPOA regulation. Structural and biochemical data suggest different PAPOA conformations. The PAPOAC can fold back onto the PAPOA structured core in a potential autoregulatory conformation. This conformation is released in the presence of mPSF, with FIP1 docking onto the structured core and PAPOAC interacting with CPSF160. The PAPOAC–CPSF160 interaction appears to provide a second anchoring point for tethering the poly(A) polymerase more stably to mPSF.
