Human spliceosomal complex (PDB id: 8C6J; Dybkov O, Preussner M, El Ayoubi L, Feng VY, Harnisch C, Merz K, Leupold P, Yudichev P, Agafonov DE, Will CL, et al. 2023. Regulation of 3′ splice site selection after step 1 of splicing by spliceosomal C* proteins. Sci Adv 9: eadf178). Human C* spliceosomes catalyze step 2 of splicing and regulate alternative splicing. Cryo-electron microscopy reveals the location of proteins recruited to participate in formation of C* spliceosomes, and elucidates the path of the intron 3′ region. RNA (U2, U5, U6, exon and intron chains) are displayed using NDB colors: A—red, C—yellow, G—green, U—cyan. Globular and α-helical protein subunits are shown as semitransparent surfaces.
