Fig mosaic virus nucleoprotein/RNA complex (PDB id: 8AXF; Izhaki-Tavor LS, Yechezkel IG, Alter J, Dessau M. 2023. RNA encapsulation mode and evolutionary insights from the crystal structure of emaravirus nucleoprotein. Microbiol Spectr 11: e05018-22). The fig mosaic virus (FMV) is a member of Fimoviridae, a newly founded family of enveloped RNA plant viruses within the Bunyavirales order that inflicts crop losses. FMV has a segmented, negative-sense, single-stranded RNA genome that is encapsulated by the viral nucleoprotein. Poly(U) RNA backbone is displayed in cyan; nucleoprotein tetramer is displayed as ribbons. Unmodeled protein regions are shown as dotted lines.
