Type III CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats) systems are unique in that they can degrade both RNA and DNA. The cryo-EM structure of the type III-A Staphylococcus epidermidis CRISPR effector complex is shown in complex with noncognate target RNA.
