Discovery and initial characterization of YloC, a novel endoribonuclease in Bacillus subtilis

YloC is an endoribonuclease. (A) YloC activity with varied substrate:enzyme ratios. An amount of 30 pmol of RNA oligo (labeled + unlabeled) was incubated for 30 min at 37°C with decreasing concentrations (picomoles) of tagged YloC protein, as indicated above each lane. (T1) T1 RNase digest. Size of T1 digestion products indicated at the left. (C) Control lane with no protein added. (B) YloC activity at short time points. An amount of 30 pmol of RNA oligo (labeled + unlabeled) was incubated at 37°C with 10 pmol of tagged YloC protein and aliquots were removed at times (in minutes) indicated above each lane.
