BMV RNA2 translation defect in lsm1-9 and lsm1-14 mutants cannot be suppressed by overexpressing the corresponding lsm1 alleles. lsm1Δ strain was transformed with a plasmid transcribing BMV RNA2 and CEN or 2µ plasmids expressing LSM1, lsm1-9, or lsm1-14 alleles (indicated on top). Accumulations of RNA2, 2a and Lsm1 protein were analyzed as in Figure 2. Relative accumulation of 2a protein relative to the amount of RNA2 represented in histogram as described for Figure 2.
