The activity of K529 mutants of firefly luciferase (Fluc) expressed in strains carrying various rpsE suppressor mutations in (A) the wild-type background or (B) in the presence of the rbfA::KmR mutation. The Fluc activities produced for each of the mutants of Fluc K529 are expressed as a ratio to that of the wild-type enzyme. Activities are shown for the four known error-prone mutants replacing the wild-type Lys codon with AAU (Asn), UAG (stop), AGG (Arg), or AGA (Arg). Error bars are standard errors of the mean.
